Course Description:

Low Light Scenarios is a day full of scenarios in darkness and dim light that you work through on your own or in a pair with a flashlight in your hand. You make decisions with little information, and after each situation you go over with the instructor what worked and what didn't.

Low Light Scenarios is a one-day course that builds on the basic Low Light course (shooting and tactics in reduced visibility). We start with a quick review of the most important flashlight techniques in darkness and dim light, and then most of the day is devoted to scenarios. We put the emphasis on decision-making, safe weapon handling and correctly assessing the situation when most of the information is missing.

You work through the scenarios with FX Simunition weapons, a force-on-force system with marking ammunition. A Glock 17 pistol with a kydex holster and FX ammunition are included in the course fee. All you need to bring is a handheld tactical flashlight, ideally a simple one with no special modes. A weapon-mounted light is not required.

We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention.

Who Is This Course For:

For graduates of the Low Light course who want to test their flashlight techniques in situations close to reality. It suits civilians who carry a gun for self-defense as well as those who may face a weapon in the dark on duty.

What You Will Learn:

After the course you have reviewed and reinforced your flashlight and pistol techniques in darkness and dim light. You have worked through a range of scenarios in which you had to make decisions with limited information. You know how to handle your weapon and flashlight safely when there's no time to stay calm, and how to correctly assess a situation when most of the information is missing.

Contents:

Quick review of the most important flashlight techniques and procedures in darkness and dim light, followed by many scenarios using our FX Simunition training weapons.

Required Equipment:

A handheld tactical flashlight (ideally one with no special modes or switching, just on and off: momentary-on with a light press and release of the switch, with the option to click it on constantly). A weapon-mounted light is not required, but can be an advantage.

Comfortable civilian or tactical clothing and solid outdoor or sports shoes (both suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures), a belt, a high-quality and safe hard holster for a Glock 17 Gen4/5 worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard (preferably kydex) and a spare magazine pouch, and shooting glasses. Appendix carry holsters, worn at the front of the waistband, are allowed provided they meet the definition of a high-quality and safe hard holster, preferably kydex, worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard.

Weapon:

We will provide you free of charge with our FX Simunition force-on-force training weapons, Glock 17 Gen4 or Gen5 pistols, including an RH Holsters kydex holster. FX Simunition ammunition is included in the course fee.

Tactical Courses and the Law:

Czech law does not regulate participation in tactical courses in any way. You don't need a firearms license or any other permit, and it doesn't matter whether you are a citizen of the Czech Republic, another EU country or a country outside the EU. Czech law sets no fixed minimum age, but a minor participant must be reasonably mature, both mentally and physically. We do not recommend registering children under 15 for a course this intensive.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the training site no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

Venue:

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Language:

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.

Where to Go Next:

If you want to take working in the dark into a team and a building, start with CQB, which adds slicing the pie on a room, apartment and room entries, hallway movement and a door opening system as an individual, in pairs, in teams of four and in a large team. After the CQB course series, the next step is the four-day CQB NIGHT, with weapon-mounted and shield-mounted lights, night vision and live fire in the dark. If you carry a gun for self-defense, Self-defense Scenarios offers drawing from concealed carry, de-escalation, pepper spray and civilian scenarios with video debriefs.
