Course Description:

You learned to shoot one-handed at Dynamic Pistol 2. DP3 brings the harder part: reloading, clearing a misfire or a stovepipe and carrying on with your pistol in one hand, for example when your other hand is injured or busy.

Dynamic Pistol 3 is the third level of our pistol shooting series, a one-day course of techniques for defensive and duty shooting. We start with an initial test and a short review of DP1 and DP2 to unify your weapon handling and correct whatever needs correcting right at the start. Then come topics such as shooting from cover and one-handed pistol handling with both the strong and the support hand: clearing misfires and stovepipes, emergency and tactical reloads. You will learn to engage in three directions without changing your stance.

You don't need a firearms license or your own gun. Just add a complete package to your booking and the pistol, holsters, ammunition and eye and ear protection will be ready for you on site. We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention and we watch your weapon handling up close.

Who Is This Course For:

For graduates of Dynamic Pistol 1 and 2 who can already shoot on the move, from different positions and one-handed, and who want to master full one-handed weapon handling and learn to use cover. It suits those who carry a pistol for self-defense or use one on duty. Both previous courses are a prerequisite, as DP3 builds directly on them.

What You Will Learn:

After the course, your weapon handling from DP1 and DP2 has been checked and unified. You can shoot from cover and you know how to use it. You can operate your pistol with one hand, strong or support, which means you can clear a misfire or a stovepipe and perform an emergency or tactical reload with one hand. And you can engage in three directions without having to change your stance.

Contents:

Introduction of instructors, safety instructions, introduction to advanced defensive and tactical shooting techniques, initial test (survey and evaluation of the students' knowledge and habits, correcting mistakes and unifying weapon handling and procedures), short review of the skills from the two previous courses, DP1 and DP2, followed by shooting from cover, advanced one-handed shooting and pistol handling (strong and support hand), such as malfunction clearance (misfire, stovepipe), emergency reload and tactical reload, and three-direction engagement without changing stance.

Required Equipment:

Comfortable civilian or tactical clothing and solid outdoor or sports shoes (both suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures), a belt, a high-quality and safe hard holster worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard (preferably kydex), a magazine pouch, shooting glasses and hearing protection (earmuffs, earplugs, etc.). If you intend to shoot ammunition other than the common standard 9 mm Luger or .45 ACP on this course, please also bring 5 dummy rounds for dry practice and weapon handling.

Nylon or similar soft holsters, whether inside or outside the waistband, as well as shoulder holsters, are very dangerous for the user both in training and in real-life carry. Please avoid wearing them on the course and in real life. We can rent you high-quality kydex holsters by RH Holsters for Glock 17/19/26/43, Walther PDP/PPQ/PPS/Creed, H&K SFP9 and S&W MP9 pistols, together with a magazine pouch, for a small fee. Appendix carry holsters, worn at the front of the waistband, are allowed provided they meet the definition of a high-quality and safe hard holster, preferably kydex, worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard.

Weapon:

Semi-automatic pistol with two magazines and at least 300 rounds. For subcompact pistols (for example G43/42) we recommend at least 3 magazines.

If you do not own a gun or would like to try a different one, we can provide a pistol with holsters, ammunition and other accessories for your chosen course date. Just click on the course date and you will see a full list of weapons available for that date. In the first section you will find complete packages, which always include a pistol with two magazines, kydex pistol and magazine holsters, eye and ear protection and the number of rounds needed for the course. If you bring your own factory ammunition, you can choose to rent the gun only. The full list of rental guns, along with the option to order ammunition, holsters or protective equipment separately, can be found in the sections below.

Firearms and the Law:

You do not need a firearms license, background check or criminal record extract to attend this course. Our instructor will hand you the weapon and you will train with it under his constant supervision. Czech law sets no fixed minimum age, but a minor participant must be reasonably mature, both mentally and physically. We do not recommend registering children under 15 for a course this intensive.

There is no restriction on the barrel length of semi-automatic rifles, and high-capacity magazines are allowed. Suppressors and weapon-mounted lasers and lights are legal in the Czech Republic.

If you hold a European Firearms Pass (EFP) with your firearm listed in it, you may temporarily bring it to the Czech Republic and use it for training. Under Czech law it is enough to prove the purpose of your visit, for example with your course booking or another document confirming the reason for your trip. An official invitation is not required by law. The EFP also covers carrying an amount of ammunition that matches the purpose of the trip, for example for a competition or training. Please note that transit countries or your airline may apply their own limits or requirements. If you plan to travel through several countries or by air, contact us and we will help you prepare any documents you may need, such as an invitation.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the range no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Language:

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.

Where to Go Next:

The direct follow-up is Dynamic Pistol 4, the final course of the series, focused on close-range self-defense, for which DP3 is a prerequisite.
