Course Description:

For most drivers, contact with another car means an accident. At Tactical Driving Advanced you will learn to use controlled contact as a tool: to ram through a vehicle blocking your way and to stop a fleeing car with a PIT maneuver.

Tactical Driving Advanced is a one-day course in contact and offensive driving. We start with theory and how to use a vehicle as a mass you can work with. Then comes the practical part: pushing a disabled vehicle in front of or behind you out of a danger zone, controlled contact with another vehicle, the PIT maneuver and defending against it, breaking out of a vehicle block and ramming through a light barricade with your own car or using another vehicle.

Finally, you bring the individual maneuvers together and try them in crisis situations where you have to decide quickly without losing control of the car. We put the emphasis on safety, timing and understanding where the limits of the vehicle and the driver lie.

You train in our training vehicles, so you don't have to risk your own car. We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention and we go over every run with you.

Who Is This Course For:

For protective team drivers, members of security services and experienced civilian drivers who want to master situations where a vehicle has to be used to actively clear the way. Ideally, you should have completed Tactical Driving, where you gain confidence in braking, evasive driving and maneuvering, which this course builds on.

What You Will Learn:

After the course you understand the principles of contact driving and know how to use a vehicle's mass tactically. You can push a disabled car out of a danger zone in front of or behind you, perform controlled contact and a PIT maneuver and defend against it. You can break out of a vehicle block and ram through a light barricade with your own vehicle or another one. And you can combine these maneuvers and use them under pressure.

Basic theory of contact and offensive driving, tactical use of vehicle mass, pushing a disabled vehicle in front of or behind you out of a danger zone, controlled contact techniques, the PIT maneuver and defending against it, breaking out of a vehicle block, ramming through a light barricade with your own vehicle, using another vehicle to break through an obstacle, combined maneuvers focused on maintaining mobility under pressure, crisis scenario drills using contact driving.

Required Equipment:

Civilian, outdoor or tactical clothing and footwear suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures (it is usually very windy at the airfield). If you have one, you can bring a racing or motorcycle helmet. We will provide our training vehicles for the course.

Driving Courses and the Law:

The training takes place on a closed course off public roads. To take part, you need a valid category B driver's license (or equivalent), and it doesn't matter whether you are a citizen of the Czech Republic, another EU country or a country outside the EU.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the venue no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Language:

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.
