Course Description:

At Dynamic Pistol 1 you shot from a fixed position, with the target right in front of you. Dynamic Pistol 2 teaches you to work safely with your pistol when standing still is not an option.

Dynamic Pistol 2 is a one-day pistol shooting course that builds directly on DP1. We start with a short test and review to see what habits you bring with you. Whatever needs fixing, we correct and unify first thing in the morning, so that your movement rests on a solid foundation.

Then you start moving. You will draw and engage at close range with step-out engagements: stepping forward, linear and lateral step-outs, and stepping back. You will fire and relocate over longer distances and learn one-handed shooting. You will drop quickly to kneeling, squatting and prone and engage from each position right away. Finally comes shooting on the move and drills that teach you to keep a safe distance from an attacker.

You don't need a firearms license or your own pistol, just add a complete package to your booking. We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention and we fine-tune every step with you.

Over 2,500 students have completed this course, more than any of our other courses except DP1.

Who Is This Course For:

For graduates of Dynamic Pistol 1 who have mastered safe weapon handling, drawing and reloading and want to start working with their gun dynamically. It suits defensive and sport shooters as well as those who carry a gun on duty. You cannot attend without DP1, as this course builds directly on its content.

What You Will Learn:

After the course you can draw and engage after a change of position, stepping forward, using linear and lateral step-outs, and stepping back. After relocating over a longer distance, you can hit the target after moving in any of the four directions, and you can shoot one-handed. You can quickly take a kneeling, squatting or prone position and engage from each one right away. You can shoot on the move and you know how to keep a safe distance from an attacker.

Contents:

Introduction of instructors, safety instructions, introduction to defensive and tactical shooting, initial test (survey and evaluation of the students' knowledge and habits, correcting mistakes and unifying weapon handling and procedures), short review of the skills learned on the Dynamic Pistol 1 course, followed by developing skills such as close-range step-out engagements from the draw (step forward, linear step-out, lateral step-out, step back), fire and relocate over longer distances in all four directions, one-handed shooting, dynamic transitions to kneeling, squatting and prone with engagement, shooting on the move, and drills to build awareness of a safe distance from an attacker.

Required Equipment:

Comfortable civilian or tactical clothing and solid outdoor or sports shoes (both suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures), a belt, a high-quality and safe hard holster worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard (preferably kydex), a magazine pouch, shooting glasses and hearing protection (earmuffs, earplugs, etc.). If you intend to shoot ammunition other than the common standard 9 mm Luger or .45 ACP on this course, please also bring 5 dummy rounds for dry practice and weapon handling.

Nylon or similar soft holsters, whether inside or outside the waistband, as well as shoulder holsters, are very dangerous for the user both in training and in real-life carry. Please avoid wearing them on the course and in real life. We can rent you high-quality kydex holsters by RH Holsters for Glock 17/19/26/43, Walther PDP/PPQ/PPS/Creed, H&K SFP9 and S&W MP9 pistols, together with a magazine pouch, for a small fee. Appendix carry holsters, worn at the front of the waistband, are allowed provided they meet the definition of a high-quality and safe hard holster, preferably kydex, worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard.

Weapon:

Semi-automatic pistol with two magazines and at least 300 rounds. For subcompact pistols (for example G43/42) we recommend at least 3 magazines.

If you do not own a gun or would like to try a different one, we can provide a pistol with holsters, ammunition and other accessories for your chosen course date. Just click on the course date and you will see a full list of weapons available for that date. In the first section you will find complete packages, which always include a pistol with two magazines, kydex pistol and magazine holsters, eye and ear protection and the number of rounds needed for the course. If you bring your own factory ammunition, you can choose to rent the gun only. The full list of rental guns, along with the option to order ammunition, holsters or protective equipment separately, can be found in the sections below.

Firearms and the Law:

You do not need a firearms license, background check or criminal record extract to attend this course. Our instructor will hand you the weapon and you will train with it under his constant supervision. Czech law sets no fixed minimum age, but a minor participant must be reasonably mature, both mentally and physically. We do not recommend registering children under 15 for a course this intensive.

There is no restriction on the barrel length of semi-automatic rifles, and high-capacity magazines are allowed. Suppressors and weapon-mounted lasers and lights are legal in the Czech Republic.

If you hold a European Firearms Pass (EFP) with your firearm listed in it, you may temporarily bring it to the Czech Republic and use it for training. Under Czech law it is enough to prove the purpose of your visit, for example with your course booking or another document confirming the reason for your trip. An official invitation is not required by law. The EFP also covers carrying an amount of ammunition that matches the purpose of the trip, for example for a competition or training. Please note that transit countries or your airline may apply their own limits or requirements. If you plan to travel through several countries or by air, contact us and we will help you prepare any documents you may need, such as an invitation.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the range no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Language:

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.

Where to Go Next:

After DP2, most students continue with Dynamic Pistol 3, which takes pistol shooting on to advanced techniques. Many graduates then add a rifle with Dynamic Rifle 1. If protecting your family is on your mind, continue with Home Defense, where you will put moving with a gun to use in an apartment and on a staircase.
