Course Description:

Defending your home is very different from a police intervention in someone else's building. You know your house or apartment down to the last corner, and you can use that advantage. At the same time, you are protecting your family, who may be in the bedroom with you or in the kids' room at the other end of the hallway.

Home Defense is a one-day course on how to handle an unlawful intrusion into your home. We start with theory and what Czech law says about self-defense and necessity. Then you will learn to move safely down a hallway with a pistol, slice the pie on a room, meaning clear it step by step before you enter, and enter an apartment and a room.

Next come apprehending and securing an intruder, reacting to non-standard situations and how to barricade your own home. We put the emphasis on safe decision-making and protecting your loved ones and other uninvolved persons.

You will practice everything right away in many scenarios with FX Simunition weapons, a force-on-force system with marking ammunition. A Glock 17 pistol with a holster and FX ammunition are included in the course fee. You can train in your everyday clothes.

We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention and there is time for your questions about your own home. Over 1,000 students have completed this course.

Who Is This Course For:

For anyone who wants to know how to protect themselves and their family at home, whether they already keep a gun at home or are only thinking about it. The course is designed for ordinary people, so you don't need any tactical background or previous courses. If you are starting with firearms from scratch, you can take Dynamic Pistol 1 first, as many of our graduates do.

What You Will Learn:

After the course you know where the limits of self-defense and necessity lie. You can slice the pie on a room, safely enter an apartment and a room and move down a hallway. You know how to apprehend and secure an intruder and how to react when the situation develops differently than you expect. You can barricade your own home. And you have tested everything in scenarios against a live opponent.

Contents:

Basic theory, self-defense and necessity, slicing the pie on a room, apartment and room entries, hallway movement, apprehending and securing an intruder, reacting to non-standard situations, barricading your own home, countless scenarios using FX Simunition weapons.

Required Equipment:

Comfortable civilian clothing and solid outdoor or sports shoes (both suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures), a belt and, if you have your own, a high-quality and safe hard holster for a Glock 17 Gen4/Gen5 worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard (preferably kydex) and spare magazine pouches, shooting glasses, and you can also bring tactical gloves and a flashlight. Above all, come to the course in clothing and gear that match your everyday carry or work as closely as possible.

Weapon:

We will provide you free of charge with our FX Simunition force-on-force training weapons, Glock 17 Gen4 or Gen5 pistols, including a kydex holster. FX Simunition ammunition is included in the course fee.

Tactical Courses and the Law:

Czech law does not regulate participation in tactical courses in any way. You don't need a firearms license or any other permit, and it doesn't matter whether you are a citizen of the Czech Republic, another EU country or a country outside the EU. Czech law sets no fixed minimum age, but a minor participant must be reasonably mature, both mentally and physically. We do not recommend registering children under 15 for a course this intensive.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the venue no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Language:

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.

Where to Go Next:

After Home Defense, most students continue with Dynamic Pistol 1, where you build solid pistol shooting fundamentals. If you want to develop individual pistol tactics further, go for One Man CQB Pistol, which is entirely devoted to an individual moving down a hallway and through an apartment and reacting to an unknown person. For more thorough building training there is CQB, which adds a door opening system, reacting to an unknown person inside a building and procedures not only for individuals, but also for pairs, teams of four and large teams.
