Course Description:

When your rifle jams in front of an attacker and there's no time to clear it, the fastest solution is in the holster on your belt. At Combined Firearms you will learn to transition from rifle to pistol safely and without hesitation, and the other way around, to go back to the rifle when you need to shoot through something or hit a target at a longer distance.

Combined Firearms is a one-day shooting and tactics course on transitions between a long gun and a handgun. We start with a quick review of techniques from the level 1 to 3 pistol and rifle courses, then you will practice emergency and tactical weapon transitions. Then come the basics of working in pairs and several dynamic scenario drills where you put the procedures to the test.

Come in the clothing and gear you normally wear or use at work, so you train with exactly what you have on. You can rent the weapons as a complete package for your chosen date. We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention and we fine-tune every transition with you.

Who Is This Course For:

For shooters who have completed Dynamic Pistol 1 to 3 and Dynamic Rifle 1 to 3 and carry or use both a rifle and a pistol, whether on duty or in training. All six courses are required, because Combined Firearms builds directly on their techniques.

What You Will Learn:

After the course you have reviewed and unified the techniques from the pistol and rifle courses. You can make an emergency transition to the pistol when your rifle malfunctions, and you know when and how to make a tactical transition even when the rifle is working. You can also transition from the pistol back to the rifle when you need to shoot through something or hit a target at a longer distance. You know the basics of working in pairs, and you have tested everything in dynamic scenario drills.

Contents:

Quick recap and review of the necessary shooting techniques from the level 1 to 3 pistol and rifle courses, followed by practice of individual emergency and tactical weapon transition techniques, the basics of working in pairs and several dynamic shooting scenario drills.

Required Equipment:

Comfortable civilian or tactical clothing and solid outdoor or sports shoes (both suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures), a belt, a high-quality and safe hard holster worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard (preferably kydex) and spare magazine pouches for both the handgun and the long gun, or a plate carrier or full ballistic protection including a helmet, shooting glasses, hearing protection (earmuffs, earplugs, etc.) and knee pads. Above all, come to the course in clothing and gear that match your everyday carry or work as closely as possible.

If you intend to shoot ammunition other than the common standard 9 mm Luger, .223 Rem, 7.62×39 or .45 ACP on this course, please also bring 5 dummy rounds for dry practice and weapon handling.

Nylon or similar soft holsters, whether inside or outside the waistband, as well as shoulder holsters, are very dangerous for the user both in training and in real-life carry. Please avoid wearing them on the course and in real life. We can rent you high-quality kydex holsters by RH Holsters for Glock 17/19/26/43, Walther PDP/PPQ/PPS/Creed, H&K SFP9 and S&W MP9 pistols, together with a magazine pouch, for a small fee. Appendix carry holsters, worn at the front of the waistband, are allowed provided they meet the definition of a high-quality and safe hard holster, preferably kydex, worn on the strong side and covering the trigger guard.

Weapon:

Semi-automatic pistol with two magazines, semi-automatic rifle with two magazines, at least 300 rounds for each weapon and a quality sling. For subcompact pistols (for example G43/42) we recommend at least 3 magazines.

If you do not own one or both guns or would like to try a different one, we can provide a pistol or rifle with holsters, ammunition and other accessories for your chosen course date. Just click on the course date and you will see a full list of weapons available for that date. In the first section you will find complete packages, which always include a pistol or rifle with two magazines, kydex pistol and magazine holsters, eye and ear protection and the number of rounds needed for the course. If you bring your own factory ammunition, you can choose to rent the gun only. Firearms and the Law:

You do not need a firearms license, background check or criminal record extract to attend this course. Our instructor will hand you the weapon and you will train with it under his constant supervision. Czech law sets no fixed minimum age, but a minor participant must be reasonably mature, both mentally and physically. We do not recommend registering children under 15 for a course this intensive.

There is no restriction on the barrel length of semi-automatic rifles, and high-capacity magazines are allowed. Suppressors and weapon-mounted lasers and lights are legal in the Czech Republic.

If you hold a European Firearms Pass (EFP) with your firearm listed in it, you may temporarily bring it to the Czech Republic and use it for training. Under Czech law it is enough to prove the purpose of your visit, for example with your course booking or another document confirming the reason for your trip. An official invitation is not required by law. The EFP also covers carrying an amount of ammunition that matches the purpose of the trip, for example for a competition or training. Please note that transit countries or your airline may apply their own limits or requirements. If you plan to travel through several countries or by air, contact us and we will help you prepare any documents you may need, such as an invitation.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the range no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Language:

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.

Where to Go Next:

The teamwork you get a taste of here is developed further at Team Work, where you shoot in pairs, teams of three and four from behind cover, move down a hallway, enter a room and maneuver as a team in open areas. You will put your pistol and rifle skills to use at VCQB, which adds using a vehicle as cover, vehicle penetration tests and how the driver and passenger respond to an armed attack. If you want to take your weapons into a building, the next step is CQB Live Fire, which also requires the basic CQB course.
