Course Description:

In an ambush the unit waits for the enemy, in a raid it goes after him. Small Unit Tactics Raid takes you through the entire operation, from reconnaissance of the target and planning to the raid itself and the actions that follow.

Small Unit Tactics Raid (SUTR) is a two-day course that builds on Small Unit Tactics Basic and Small Unit Tactics Ambush. First you will review the procedures from both courses and the planning process, and learn to plan at the Objective Rally Point. Then you will set up an observation post and observe a static enemy. Based on that, you will prepare and execute the raid and handle the actions that follow, all in open and wooded terrain. We put the emphasis on concealment, the right timing of each phase and coordination of all elements of the unit.

You train with airsoft weapons, which have a longer range than FX Simunition and are better suited to the field. You can pre-order our M4 training rifle for a symbolic fee, and your own airsoft weapon is welcome. You don't have to buy any tactical gear.

We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention.

Who Is This Course For:

For graduates of Small Unit Tactics Basic who want to carry out a planned operation against a static target with their unit. The course also reviews procedures from Small Unit Tactics Ambush, so we recommend completing it first. You don't need a live weapon.

What You Will Learn:

After the course you have reviewed the procedures from SUT Basic and Ambush and are confident in the planning process, including planning at the Objective Rally Point. You can set up an observation post and observe a static enemy. You know how to prepare and execute a raid and what the unit has to do after completing the mission.

Contents:

Review of procedures from the basic SUT course and SUTA, review of the planning process and planning at the Objective Rally Point, setting up observation posts and observing a static enemy, preparing and executing a raid on the enemy, actions after the raid, scenarios.

Required Equipment:

Comfortable civilian or tactical clothing and solid outdoor or sports shoes (both suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures), a belt, or a plate carrier or any full ballistic protection including a helmet, AR15 magazine pouches, shooting glasses, knee pads, tactical gloves and headwear. Above all, come to the course in clothing and gear that match your everyday carry or work as closely as possible, without having to buy any tactical gear. It is not required on this course. Since you will be moving through the woods with an emphasis on camouflage and blending in, match the color of your clothing and gear to the forest and open terrain as closely as possible (green, MultiCam or other woodland camouflage).

If you would like to try modern ballistic gear, click on your chosen course date and you can rent one of the plate carriers on offer, including ballistic plates, or a top-of-the-line Galvion ballistic helmet.

Weapon:

At this course we use airsoft weapons, which have a significantly longer range than the FX Simunition weapons we normally use. Participants can use our M4 airsoft training rifles, which can be pre-ordered for a symbolic fee that usually covers only servicing and maintenance of the weapon after the course. The weapon is not included in the course fee! If you have your own airsoft weapon or sling, we recommend bringing them along. You are of course welcome to use them.

Tactical Courses and the Law:

Czech law does not regulate participation in tactical courses in any way. You don't need any permit, and it doesn't matter whether you are a citizen of the Czech Republic, another EU country or a country outside the EU. Czech law sets no fixed minimum age, but a minor participant must be reasonably mature, both mentally and physically. We do not recommend registering children under 15 for a course this intensive.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the venue no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Language:

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.
