Course Description:

A small zeroing error disappears at 25 meters, but at 300 meters it can make you miss the target. At Dynamic Rifle 4 you will zero your rifle precisely and learn to hit with it at all distances out to 300 meters.

Dynamic Rifle 4 is the final course in our rifle series. It is a one-day course focused on precision shooting at longer distances. After an introductory theory session on long-distance shooting with a standard semi-automatic rifle, you will zero your rifle precisely and then work on shooting technique step by step from 25 to 300 meters. You will understand how the bullet behaves at different distances, and you will learn to use cover, support and shooting positions to make accurate hits. Next comes dynamic shooting at 100 meters using cover and support, and the day ends with a comprehensive final exercise.

Before the course, find out the ballistic coefficient of your ammunition and the sight height of your rifle; you will find instructions in the equipment section. You don't need your own rifle, since you can add a complete package to your booking for your chosen date. We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention, and we help each student with zeroing individually.

Who Is This Course For:

For graduates of Dynamic Rifle 1 to 3 who want to use their semi-automatic rifle at distances where precise weapon setup and a stable position make the difference. All three previous levels are required.

What You Will Learn:

After the course you can zero your rifle precisely and you understand how the bullet behaves at different distances. You shoot accurately at distances from 25 to 300 meters and you know how to use cover, support and the right shooting position to do it. You also have experience with dynamic shooting at 100 meters using cover and support.

Contents:

Introduction of instructors, safety instructions, introduction to advanced long-distance shooting techniques, initial survey and evaluation of the students' knowledge and habits, correcting mistakes and unifying weapon handling and procedures, short review of the skills from the Dynamic Rifle 3 course, followed by precise rifle zeroing and semi-automatic rifle shooting techniques at 25, 33, 50, 100, 200 and 300 meters with iron sights, a red dot or a magnifier, without bipods or high-magnification optics, dynamic shooting at 100 meters combined with the use of cover and support, and a comprehensive final shooting exercise.

Required Equipment:

A marker, paper and pencil (for notes; your phone will do in a pinch) and a ruler. Comfortable civilian or tactical clothing or a duty combat uniform and solid outdoor or sports shoes (both suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures), a belt with a spare magazine pouch, or a plate carrier or tactical vest with pouches for magazines and gear, shooting glasses and hearing protection (earmuffs, earplugs, etc.). If you intend to shoot ammunition other than the common standard .223 Rem, 7.62×39 or 5.45×39 on this course, please also bring 5 dummy rounds for dry practice and weapon handling.

You need to know the ballistic coefficient of the ammunition you will use and the sight height of your rifle. The ballistic coefficient, marked BC, should be listed on the manufacturer's website. There are two types, G1 and the newer G7, so you also need to know which type the value you found is. Measure the sight height from the center of the bore to the center of the optic or the top of the front sight.

Weapon:

Semi-automatic rifle (for example AR15, Sa58, AK47/74, BREN) with zeroed sights or a red dot, a sling, at least two 30-round or three 20-round magazines and at least 300 rounds. We do not recommend 9 mm Luger carbines, such as the EVO or MP5, for this course.

If you do not own a gun or would like to try a different one, we can provide a rifle, ammunition and other accessories for your chosen course date. Just click on the course date and you will see a full list of weapons available for that date. In the first section you will find complete packages, which always include a rifle with two magazines, a kydex magazine pouch, a sling, eye and ear protection and the number of rounds needed for the course. If you bring your own factory ammunition, you can choose to rent the gun only. Firearms and the Law:

You do not need a firearms license, background check or criminal record extract to attend this course. Our instructor will hand you the weapon and you will train with it under his constant supervision. Czech law sets no fixed minimum age, but a minor participant must be reasonably mature, both mentally and physically. We do not recommend registering children under 15 for a course this intensive.

There is no restriction on the barrel length of semi-automatic rifles, and high-capacity magazines are allowed. Suppressors and weapon-mounted lasers and lights are legal in the Czech Republic.

If you hold a European Firearms Pass (EFP) with your firearm listed in it, you may temporarily bring it to the Czech Republic and use it for training. Under Czech law it is enough to prove the purpose of your visit, for example with your course booking or another document confirming the reason for your trip. An official invitation is not required by law. The EFP also covers carrying an amount of ammunition that matches the purpose of the trip, for example for a competition or training. Please note that transit countries or your airline may apply their own limits or requirements. If you plan to travel through several countries or by air, contact us and we will help you prepare any documents you may need, such as an invitation.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the range no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Language:

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.

Where to Go Next:

DR4 completes the Dynamic Rifle series. If you want to continue with long-distance shooting, move on to Basic Sniper, where you will learn to work with a scoped rifle, a reticle and ballistic tables. You will also put precise zeroing and shooting out to 300 meters to use in Aerial Platform Operations, where you shoot from a helicopter. And if you have also completed Dynamic Pistol 1 to 3, Combined Firearms is open to you, focusing on transitions between rifle and pistol.

Before the course, we recommend watching our YouTube video on precise zeroing of a rifle with a red dot. Precise zeroing is the foundation the whole of DR4 is built on. If you see the procedure in advance, you will get through it faster at the range and have more time left for the shooting itself. Please note that the video is in Czech.
