Course Description:

Until the police arrive at the scene of an active shooter attack, the people inside the building are on their own. At Active Shooter Civilian you will learn to decide quickly in that moment whether to run, hide or fight.

Active Shooter Civilian is a one-day course for civilians. An active shooter is an attacker who opens fire on the people around him in a building or a public place. At the course you will learn to find escape routes and exits, build an improvised barricade when you can't leave the area right away, and, as a last resort, disable or immobilize the attacker. We will also cover how to cooperate with law enforcement and emergency services once they arrive.

You will put what you learn to use right away in scenarios based on real incidents. You will practice the Run, Hide, Fight rule in them over and over again, so that you can make a quick decision even under stress.

You don't need to buy any gear. All you need is clothing you don't mind getting dirty, sturdy shoes, protective glasses, gloves and earplugs.

We never have more than 8 students per instructor, so everyone gets real attention.

Who Is This Course For:

For anyone who wants to know what to do if they find themselves in a building with an attacker. You don't need any previous courses or experience with firearms. The course suits individuals as well as staff of schools, government offices, shops and companies who want to prepare their people.

What You Will Learn:

After the course you know the principles to base your decisions on during an attack. You can quickly find an escape route and build a barricade from whatever is at hand. You know how to disable or immobilize an attacker as a last resort and how to behave when law enforcement and emergency services arrive. And you have practiced the Run, Hide, Fight rule in many scenarios.

Contents:

Basic theory, building barricades, using escape routes and exits, procedures for disabling or immobilizing the attacker, cooperation with law enforcement and emergency services, and in scenarios we will apply the Run, Hide, Fight rule over and over again!

Recommended Equipment:

Comfortable civilian clothing that you don't mind getting dirty and solid outdoor or sports shoes (both suited to the current weather and outdoor temperatures), shooting glasses, protective gloves and earplugs.

Timing:

Class starts at 9:00 am. Please arrive at the training site no later than 8:30–8:45 am. The course usually ends around 6:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break during the day.

We run our courses at various locations across the Czech Republic. You will find the exact venue for each date in the calendar, just click on the date. For multi-day courses that use more than one location, all venues are listed there.

Please check the venue carefully before booking. The same course often runs at different locations on different dates. Every now and then a student books a date expecting it to be at our home base, the Oleško shooting range, only to find out on the day that the course is taking place in Moravia, some 300 km away. To avoid this, always click on the date before booking and check where that particular date takes place.

Czech with English translation available.

Accommodation and Food:

Accommodation is not included in the course fee, each participant arranges and pays for it themselves. There is a 30-minute lunch break, so bring food that doesn't need cooking or ordering, such as an Adventure Menu type ration, an MRE or food from home, and enough to drink for the whole day.

Where to Go Next:

If you work at a school, government office, hospital or company, we recommend following up through your employer with our soft target protection seminars, which prepare the whole team and add crisis communication, mental preparation and handling other high-risk situations. If you want to learn to defend yourself effectively, you can continue with Expandable Baton, or go straight to Dynamic Pistol 1, where you will learn to handle and shoot a pistol safely, even without a firearms license. During an attack, a wounded person can bleed out before the ambulance arrives. At our one-day First Responder course you will learn to stop massive bleeding with a tourniquet or gauze and help the injured survive until paramedics arrive.
