Course Description:

The Active Shooter Civilian course is designed to increase individual survivability during an active threat incident in public or private environments. This training focuses on practical decision-making, situational awareness, and simple, effective actions that can significantly improve personal safety during high-risk events.

Participants learn to apply the three core principles of Avoidance, Denial, and Defense in realistic scenarios, developing the ability to recognize danger early, create distance from threats, establish effective barricades, and, as a last resort, respond decisively to protect themselves and others. The course emphasizes calm judgment, coordination with responding law enforcement and emergency services, and responsible behavior under extreme stress.

Through scenario-based force-on-force exercises, students repeatedly apply the “Run, Hide, Fight” framework in controlled and structured environments, gaining confidence and clarity in situations where hesitation can be critical.

Contents:

Fundamental theory of active threat behavior and civilian response principles; application of Avoidance, Denial, and Defense concepts; recognition of early warning indicators and situational awareness; identification and use of escape routes and safe exits; construction of improvised barricades and delay tactics; last-resort techniques to disable or immobilize an attacker; communication and cooperation with armed responders and rescue services; and repeated scenario-based force-on-force training applying the Run, Hide, Fight framework under realistic stress conditions.
